Dr. Derek Grigg, Senior Pastor

Derek became the pastor of HBC in March, 2013. Having been raised in north central Arkansas, Derek and Teresa are both natives of the Ozarks. Derek surrendered to God’s call to ministry in 1994 and has pastored churches since then in Arkansas, North Carolina, and Missouri and led mission trips in various states and countries. He loves to share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ and to help people understand how to apply His Word to their lives. His passion is lead the church to personally be “on mission” in our community and throughout the world. Derek and Teresa met in high school. They were married in 1993 and God has blessed them with three kids, Jordan, Shiloh, and Faith. Derek and Teresa especially enjoy doing marriage ministry together. Derek also  loves spending time with his family. Hunting, fishing, horses, and motorcycles include some of the recreational hobbies he enjoys. Derek received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science  from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He also holds a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages and Doctor of Ministry in Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth  from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forrest, North Carolina.

 

 
Gary Longenecker, Interim Associate Pastor

Gary joined the staff at HBC in September, 2015. Gary has been in the ministry for over 50 years. He has had the privilege of serving several churches; all of them in Missouri. He retired from First Baptist Church, Lebanon in 2006. He served that church for 15 years. Gary considers the greatest work that  he did personally while  Senior Pastor of First, Lebanon was to train about 250 people how to share their faith. Since retirement, he has  worked with the Missouri Baptist Convention in their partnerships in Romania, Turkey, El Salvador and Colorado. I Gary has also been involved Global Focus, a mission organization that helps churches develop an Acts 1:8 strategy. Gary has a Mission Organization, Kingdom Sports Products, that has produced and distributed over 100,000 soccer balls throughout the world, “The Ball of Many Colors”. Gary believes that sharing the Gospel shouldn’t be that difficult. So the “Ball of Many Colors” has become a tool, used by children, youth and adults, to share the Gospel.. Gary has served several churches as an interim pastor during his retirement from full time vocational ministry. Gary and his wife Mary have been married for 54 years and have 2 children, Mark and Jill.  Gary enjoys gardening, fishing, golf and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He graduated from Willard High School, Southwest Baptist University and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The focus of his formal education was on Biblical Studies and Pastoral Ministry.
 

James Dodd, Worship Pastor

James joined the staff at HBC as the in July, 2014.  James has served several churches  on praise teams and as an interim worship leader. James has lead an intentionally evangelistic contemporary band and music ministry called “Beyond the Walls” for several years This ministry  seeks to engage lost communities with the gospel by sharing contemporary worship in parking lot venues. James has also led worship teams on several missions trips.  James and his wife Shari have been married for 27 years. They have 2 grown daughters who are married. James’ favorite scripture is 2 Corinthians 5:17,  “
Anyone who is in Christ Jesus is a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come!”  
James’ favorite music is contemporary Christian. although he has a deep appreciate for traditional hymns and various other music styles . His favorite bands are Third Day, Casting Crowns and Mercy Me. James’ hobbies include anything to do with music.  He even builds guitars from the ground up.
 

 

Devin Pritchard , Next Generation Pastor  
 
Devin joined the staff at HBC on March 26, 2017 and

serves as the Next Generation Pastor.  He is a native of the Kansas City area (Harrisonville and Oak Grove) and graduated from Southwest Baptist University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Church Music. He began serving as a Music & Youth Pastor in Humansville and Springfield, Missouri. While serving in this capacity, Devin felt compelled by God to pursue Next Generation ministry, and he also felt led by God to complete his seminary training. During his time in seminary, at Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City, he served on staff as Youth Pastor at First Baptist Church in Oak Grove, Missouri.

Devin is married to his awesome wife Traci (Jackson) Pritchard, a music graduate of Southwest Baptist University and Missouri State University. Traci is a native of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and Sikeston Missouri. Devin and Traci met in the music program at SBU. They were married in June 2009. They have one son, Henry, who was born August 13, 2016 and who already loves to “play the piano and sing.”

Devin and Traci enjoy the outdoors, their dogs, hiking, horseback riding, watching movies and attending or participating in classical music performances. Devin loves to fish and watch Kansas City Royals baseball! Traci’s life verse is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Devin’s life verses are Philippians 1:21 and Romans 1:16. They desire together to “leave a lasting legacy of faith for future generations.”

 

Jan Turner,  Ministry Assistant

Jan joined the staff at HBC  in June of 2014. Jan served as a church office manager for 15 years prior to moving to the Nixa/Ozark area in 2011. Jan was called into Christian ministry while attending Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. Jan has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/Sociology. She received her Master of Arts degree  in Speech Communications from the University of Missouri, Columbia.  Jan’s favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthen’s me.”  After college graduation Jan was employed at the Missouri Baptist Convention in the WMU Department. Jan and her husband Phil were married in 1977.  Her husband Phil served as Pastor for forty years prior to his retirement.  Jan and her husband are active members at Hopedale Baptist Church in Ozark. The Turners have two grown daughters, Joanna and Sarah.  Jan has two cute young grandsons, Joseph and Jaxon. If you come by the office, she will gladly show you their pictures. Jan enjoys spending time with her grandsons, reading Christian fiction books,sewing projects, listening to Christian music, cooking and collecting recipes. 
 
 
Mary Margaret Dodson,  Finance AssistantDODSON-EDDIE-146

Mary Margaret joined the HBC staff in November, 2010. She has been a member of Harmony since 1972 and served a total of over 20 years serving on the finance team, as finance chairman for several years and finance volunteer in doing the bookkeeping. She grew up in the Mansfield, MO area and graduated from Mansfield High School. Eddie and Mary Margaret got married on Valentine’s Day in 1970. She went to work in accounting a week after graduation, was a tax preparer for H&R Block for 15 years and another 16 years out of her home. She retired from American National Insurance Co after working 15 years in the accounting department. She and Eddie have two children Eric and Malydia. They have four darling granddaughters Sylvia, Alice, Vivian and Iris.

Mary Margaret’s favorite scripture is Hebrews 13:5, 8. “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
Her favorite type of music is Southern Gospel and enjoys listening to Gaither CD’s and other gospel groups. She enjoys time with her family. She loves spending time with the granddaughters either here or making a road trip to see them. When she is home she enjoys working in her flower beds and being outside. Spending time on the farm where she was raised whether with Eddie or the entire family is very special to her.
